Vadym, an anti-aircraft missile maintenance technician who worked on the system, said he successfully intercepted all targets within range.

“The German system is really modern, powerful and effective,” he explained.
“Even during its baptism of fire in October, it shot down all targets, mainly cruise missiles.”
He said that he first operated the Ukrainian air defense system Buk-M1, but then received training in Germany.

“Our Buk-M1 military anti-aircraft unit has eliminated 10 targets, including Mi-24 helicopters and Su-30 and Su-35 aircraft,” he said.
“First we were near Chernobyl, later we were moved. When I was offered training in Germany, I accepted the offer without hesitation, although I realized that it came with a huge responsibility, as the IRIS-T is one of the latest air defense systems.”
On October 11, 2022, Germany handed over the first of four promised modern IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine.
Then German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht stated that Kiev will receive the remaining three air defense systems in 2023.
