George Santos tried to roast comedians, and it went as well as you’d expect

Of all the chaos surrounding Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) at this point, apparently he’s not happy with portrayals of him on nightly television.

Under multiple investigations for lying extensively about his background in order to get elected, the New York Republican Monday turned his attention at comedians who, predictably, have gone to town with the wild scandal that just keeps on giving.

“I’m now entrenched in nighttime TV history with all these impersonations, but so far they’re all terrible,” Santos tweeted. β€œJon Lovitz is supposed to be one of the greatest comedians of all time and that was embarrassing – for him not me! These comedians need to up their game.

Since his election, Santos has been caught in an ever-growing list of untruths about his life, including misrepresenting his mother’s death, saying his grandparents fled the Holocaust, lying about college and pretending to have Jewish heritage. To add to the mess, he is also accused of campaign finance violations, defrauding a disabled veteran about his dying dog and having a secret past as a drag performer named Kitara in Brazil. (Santos has denied those allegations.)

As such, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert’s shows, with fodder aplenty, have all released comics to play the legislator, as has “Saturday Night Live.” An “SNL” alum, Jon Lovitz, took on the role on “The Tonight Show.”

Santos’ bizarre Twitter complaint (and immense failure to read the room) earned him an extra roast:

Santos even got into a fight with Trixie Mattel, the former winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” who quoted Santos’ own comments about a photo that appeared to show him cross-dressing:
