Four hospitalized after crash on Chuckanut Drive; driver arrested for vehicular assault

Authorities have arrested a man after four people were injured in a car crash on Chuckanut Drive in Whatcom County around 7:44 p.m. Saturday night.

The cause of the crash was reckless driving, the Washington State Patrol said. Nathan Singh, 20, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicular assault.

According to Kelsey Harding, Trooper with the Washington State Patrol, no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Witnesses said Singh was driving without regard for others.

Singh was traveling south on Chuckanut Drive in a 2024 BMW M4. The second vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Tucson, was traveling north, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

The BMW lost control and crossed into the opposite lane, hitting the Hyundai. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane, closing the road for several hours, the news release said.

Singh and his passenger were not injured, but the four people in the Hyundai, including two young children, were injured. All four were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.
