Fleeing Florida motorcyclist fends off cops before being hit by a truck

    A Florida motorcyclist is facing multiple charges after he blew a red light while on the run from local police and took them out seconds before being hit by an oncoming truck.

    “This is a good way to get yourself killed,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

    One of the motorcyclists looked back and deputies said he flipped them before colliding with a pickup truck. After colliding with the truck, the man ran a short distance before officers caught up and apprehended him.

    Dashcam footage shows how the group of motorcyclists recklessly weaves between cars at high speed. Approaching a red light, the group ignored it and continued to flee from deputies.

    One of the motorcyclists, Joshua Richardson, looked back and turned the bird around before continuing to the intersection – directly in the path of an oncoming truck.

    Richardson miraculously survived the crash and briefly attempted to run on foot before being apprehended by police.

    Body camera footage released by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows Richardson writhing on the ground and telling deputies that he is in great pain.

    “I’m hurt,” Richardson can be heard saying as he lies on the ground as deputies handcuff him.

    “Idiot,” said one of the deputies.

    “I know,” Richardson replied.

    After deputies handcuff him, Richardson can be heard in bodycam footage complaining to the police.

    “You know how your leg doesn’t get hurt?” asked one of the delegates. “You don’t run from the cops and crash your bike.”

    “Do you find this funny?” asked Richardson.

    “No, I don’t think it’s funny. It’s incredibly stupid,” another deputy replied.

    Joshua Richardson was charged with fleeing or attempting to evade law enforcement, resisting without violence and leaving the scene of an accident. Richardson also receives traffic fines for failing to stop at a red light and passing an overtaking ban.

    “We are being chased by 12 cops in the middle of nowhere. What should I do?” asked Richardson.

    “Stop and find out why we’re chasing you,” the deputies declared.

    Richardson was charged with fleeing or attempting to evade law enforcement, resisting without violence and leaving the scene of an accident. He also gets traffic tickets for not stopping at a red light and passing a no-pass zone.

    The Volusia Sheriff’s Office did not share whether the truck driver or any of the passengers in the vehicle were injured, or if the other reckless motorcyclists were apprehended.
