“With the existence of more than 800,000 people, given the lack of water, a partial lack of water creates a crisis. We are talking about summer and high temperatures, when one must shower at least once a day, wash one's clothes and kitchen utensils.”
Um Usama Abu Amsha, displaced Gazan
:: “We are suffering a lot for water, I am getting very tired of fetching water from Zawayda area, fetching a gallon of water, and diseases are spreading, the water is not clean, it is salty. We want clean water. I am also suffering from kidney problems and urinary tract problems and I have no money to buy filtered water.”
The system supplied 19 wells and two tanks, which provided water to residents of the area, whose population is now estimated at around 800,000 residents and displaced people, Nizar Ayash, a member of the local council, told Reuters.
Displaced people in Deir al-Balah now have to find clean water themselves or buy it. According to Ayash, this is not an easy task due to the war and the harsh living conditions of the population.
