Everyone in some doubt about the eco -zealous Eco from Ed Miliband does not have to look beyond the top team of energy and climate change. It is almost as if we have extinction Rebellion (XR) who directs the energy policy of the UK.
His special adviser Tobias Garnett previously led the Legal Team of the Group in a crucial case of Hoogtreshof that ruled the police station on the protests of the activists, was illegal after they had closed roads around parliament, to an airport at London City airport and caused a protest during the striker. Garnett has talked that “direct action as it can be justified to prevent the greater damage that climate change promises”.
Also on Team ED is socialist Jonty LeiboWitz, who advocates a tax of 100 percent imposed on football transfers from abroad and an extra tax of 2 percent on all transfer costs with higher rates of Premier League clubs. He also believes that “regional banking should be charged with … the financing of the energy transition”.
Colleague Miliband consultant Eleanor Salter, who has described XR as “enormously successful”, wrote an article from 2021 for the socialist magazine Tribune, in which she argued that “Tackling air pollution and the breakdown of climate requires a fundamental shift … including taking many cars from the way”.
In another grandstand piece, the self-adapted fan of Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders called for a “right to roam” over the countryside, to challenge “the enormously uneven land ownership on this island”.
This would include “the gypsy, roma and travelers' communities” that should not live in “fear of violation”.
Salter also argues for the 'managed decline' of industries that use fossil fuels.
Rachel Kyte, appointed as the British climate envoy through Labor, has previously expressed support for XR, including wearing a badge associated with the group.
No wonder that Miliband had trouble distance yourself from XR, which he once compared to the suffragettes.
