Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform in the middle of the night on Tuesday, early Wednesday, to rant about a preacher who called him out during her sermon during a prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral while the president was present.
Right-wing Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, asked Trump to have “mercy” for those who are “afraid” of his return to the White House and the effect his policies may have on them, such as LGBTQ children and undocumented immigrants. .

However, Trump turned around on social media and ripped Budde as a “so-called bishop” who was a “hard-line radical left Trump hater.”
“She has brought her church into the world of politics in a very ungracious way,” Trump said angrily. “She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.”
Trump then aired his usual anti-immigrant rhetoric, adding: “She failed to mention the large number of illegal immigrants coming into our country and killing people. Many were deposited from prisons and mental institutions. It's a massive crime wave happening in the US.”
The returning president's oft-touted claim that foreign prisons are being emptied and released prisoners sent to the US remains unproven.
Trump concluded: “Aside from her inappropriate statements, the service was very boring and uninspiring. She's not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Trump, who has promised that freedom of speech will now return to America, had earlier told a reporter at the sermon: “Not that exciting, is it.”
