After a reduction in activity, things were lifted again in 2021, because IP addresses from all over the world started making Woodard references and articles again. For example: “Addresses from Canada, Germany, Indonesia, the UK and other places have added some Trivia about Woodard to all 15 Wikipedia articles about the Calea Ternifolia. “
Then it became “more refined”. From December 2021 to June 2025, 183 articles were made about Woodard, each in the Wikipedia of a different language and each by a unique account. These accounts followed a behavioral pattern: they were “made, often with a fairly generic name, and made a user page with a single image on it. They then made dozens of small operations on non -related articles, before they made an article about David Woodard, and then made a dozen or so fewer small operations before disappearing from the platform.”
GRNRCHST believes that all activities was intended to “make as many articles as possible about Woodard, and to spread photos of and information about Woodard to as many articles as possible, while that activity rose as much as possible … I came to believe that David Woodard himself, or someone close to him, had experted this network of Cynische himself for the purposes of the purposes of Cynis.”
After the GRNRCHST report, the global stewards of Wikipedia removed 235 articles about Woodard from Wikipedia authorities with few users or managers. Larger Wikipedia's were free to make their own community decisions, and they removed another 80 articles and forbidden countless accounts.
“A full decade of dedicated self -promotion by an individual network was canceled by our community in just a few weeks,” Grnrchst noted.
Ultimately, only 20 articles about Woodard remain, such as these in English, who does not mention the controversy.
We could not contact Woodard, whose personal website password is secured and is only available “by invitation”.
Could the whole thing be a kind of 'art project', where the real payment is exposure and written about? Maybe. But whatever the motive is behind the decade -long attempt to stimulate Woodard on Wikipedia, the incident reminds us how much effort some people are willing to open or public projects for their own purposes.
