After taking a Korean Air business class flight to South Korea from Hawaii, a passenger shared a photo of his disappointing onboard meal with a credit card-sized steak.
The South Korean man has reportedly spent 6.48 million won (about $5,016) on a business class flight, as it was the first time he traveled in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The man was looking forward to the service on board and was surprised to see his disappointing meal.
The photo he shared on an online forum on June 13 shows his steak with a small side of vegetables and sliced potatoes. The man put his credit card next to the meal to make a visual comparison.

The man also claimed that he and the other passengers were not fully provided with blankets or alcoholic drinks during the flight. During the meal, several passengers were told there were no more instant noodles. The man believed the food was rationed during the flight and claimed the grapes were handed out one at a time and cheese was sliced as thin as sashimi.
Despite his dissatisfaction with the food and drinks on board, the man praised the cockpit crew for their positivity. He also shared that they always entrusted a smile on their face while receiving numerous complaints.
“I don’t want any misunderstandings, because the service from the flight attendants was still the best,” the man shared on the forum.

Korean Air has recently come under fire for providing poor in-flight service, with several passengers complain about the lack of flight supplies.
“I asked for some blankets because it was cold and the flight attendant said she couldn’t and kept saying sorry,” said one passenger.
“Even if you ask for drinks like Coke and juice, we can’t provide them. One can of drink is divided into three cups,” an anonymous Korean Air flight attendant shared on Blind, an online community for employees. even a lack of bottled water on long-haul flights. The manager who ordered a box from a branch because there was a shortage of liquor abroad was disciplined and had to pay for the items out of his own pocket.”

Meanwhile, a Korean Air spokesperson explained to Blind that the COVID-19 pandemic is at the root of the lack of supplies on board.
“On some overseas routes, it is inevitable that the delivery of onboard meals will only be limited on flights departing from foreign destinations due to local quarantine policies, such as border closures due to COVID-19,” he wrote.
