Comex copper peaks to record after Trump calls a rate of 50%

Koperfutures on the Comex rose no less than 17% after the US President Donald Trump said he was planning to implement a 50% rate for the input of the metal.

The futures rose to $ 5,8955 per pound from 1:07 pm in New York, a record.

“I believe that the rate on the buyer we will make 50%of it,” Trump said when a reporter was asked what the speed of those products would be.

Trump said he intended to implement the copper levy as part of a series of imminent sectoral rates. Trump told reporters during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday that he was still planning rates for selected industries, including drugs, semiconductors and metals.

At the end of February, Trump had ordered the commercial secretary to open an investigation into the import of foreign buyer on the basis of section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act and to submit a report within 270 days. The law gives the president a broad authority to impose restrictions on national grounds for safety.
