Coca-Cola has issued more than 13,000 product recalls – here's what you need to know

As consumers, we have a lot of trust in the brands we buy our products from. When it comes to food and drink, the last thing anyone needs is to get sick from something they consumed. At the very least, the grocery stores, distributors, and brands that make these products all owe their collective customer base a sense of security while shopping.

When a food or beverage product is recalled, of any kind, it is usually due to some type of unwanted contamination or mislabeling of the product. We've seen quite a few recalls announced this year, some of which are notable for large quantities of meat and poultry, eggs and even dog food. And now Coca-Cola is joining the current class of product recalls for 2024.

The Coca-Cola Company has initiated a recall for more than 13,000 cases of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade due to a labeling error. The FDA announced the recall on September 10, 2024 and has since raised the risk level exactly one month later. The FDA defines a Class II recall as “a situation in which use of or exposure to an violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.”

The unfortunate mislabeling may have affected thousands of 12-pack cases of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade, which were shipped to retailers with plain old Minute Maid Lemonade with sugar in it. Consumers may have purchased a box labeled “Zero Sugar” and returned home to an extra sweet, yet rude, awakening.

Retailers and shoppers living in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio are encouraged to check all boxes of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade they have on hand. Any mislabeled products may be returned to the place of purchase for replacement or full refund. In addition, the products in question have UPC 0 25000 12115 9.

Consumers should also look for the phrase “CNNED UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE COCA-COLA COMPANY, ATLANTA, GA,” to further help identify the mislabeled product. The recalled boxes have the following lot code and expiration dates: FEB1725CNA and FEB1725CNB.
