I spent relatively little time playing other 4x games. I've had a few weeks I was really doing Endless legendBut it did not stay in the long term. I played a lot Master of Orion II Used to be, but I only played a few dozen hours Stellaris. However, I also played obsessively Alpha Centauri. I like that too The Battle of Polytopia.
When Vi Was your favorite CIV game, if you always play in deity, or if you are a hardcore player who plays 5000 hours a year, know that I come here from a different place than you. I hope you can still filter through it and find the information you need here.
This review is based on two full PlayThroughs of all three ages of Civilization VIIPlus a little extra dabbling – in total about 35 hours. I usually played on a Windows PC, but I also tested the game briefly on a steam deck. The Mac, Linux and Console versions are not made available to me.
Let's bury.
The ages of civilization
Civilization VII Revision The structure of a civilization game more radical than we have ever seen. While previous games had 'eras' (old, classic, medieval, Renaissance, industrial, modern, atomic, information and future Vi) it acted as a soft structure for how the game progressed, VII Low everything to just three and calls “ages” – antiquity, exploration and modern.
(This should not be confused with the Boom/Bust system of the dark and gold ages in Vi.)
But unlike the eras of yesteryear, VIIThe centuries are presented and play almost like different games. Ages do not only mark the passage of time; The transition from one to the other includes significant changes in the card and objectives in the game, with a summary screen that is displayed during each transition.
Every age has its own technology and cultural trees, buildings and units, and even unique victory conditions and game systems. For example, the system of spreading religions around the world with missionaries and following the religious composition of cities is exclusively for exploration, although there are some more basic applications of religion in ancient times.
