Canada PM Carney expected to ask Snap -elections on April 28, Globe and Mail Reports

(Reuters) -Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is ready to call a fast federal elections before April 28, the Globe and Mail reported Thursday, stating sources.

Carney was expected to make the announcement on Sunday, according to the report.

Although the next elections were only due to October 20, Carney hopes to benefit from a remarkable recovery by his liberal party in the polls since January, when US President Donald Trump started threatening Trump Canada and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation.

Carney, a former dual central banker without earlier experience in the field of political or election campaign, conquered liberal leadership two weeks ago by convincing party members that he was the best person to hire Trump.

The Prime Minister's office did not immediately respond to Reuters's request for comments outside of regular office hours.
