Bodycam footage of Travis Scott's arrest in Miami released

Newly released bodycam footage shows what happened in the moments leading up to Travis Scott's arrest earlier this year in Miami. The clips, obtained and published by TMZ, show the Houston rapper pleading with law enforcement, explaining his fear at being outnumbered.

In a confrontation with the owner and captain of a yacht he claimed to have rented, the Grammy-nominated artist was able to walk away first. The musician describes men being “disrespectful” in their attempts to get him off the yacht. It was when he returned to allegedly retrieve a backpack he had accidentally left behind that the interaction between Scott and Miami police officers resulted in an arrest.

“Are you really going to lock me up after I tried to grab my bag?” the 33-year-old asked. “This is a waste of your time right now.”

He further explained: “You guys scared me, because you scared me. You told me to leave now or you're going to cuff me.” He added: “There's 50 cops surrounding me, bro.”

Travis Scott, legal name Jacques Bermon Webster II, was initially arrested for the incident in June, with bail set at $650 — up from $150 for his public intoxication charges and then $500 for trespassing. According to the tabloid, the alcohol-related charges were dropped. However, he still faces trespassing charges.

After being arrested, the rapper sent out a message on social media, typing a vague and simple response, which read: “Lol.”

“There was absolutely no physical confrontation and we thank the authorities for their cooperation in reaching a quick and amicable resolution.”
