We’ve seen some bad parking problems in our time, and have been guilty of some less-than-perfect ones ourselves, but we’ve never seen one erupt into violence. In this age of constant road rage, such things are unfortunately becoming more common, leading to attacks like the one recently seen in Seattle.
A strict anti-aggression law has recently come into effect in this state.
Cell phone footage from a bystander shows the verbal altercation escalating from pushing to violence. What is not shown is how the two women and the man initially got into an argument with a BMW driver, while both vehicles were parked on the side of the road.
According to Fox 13 Seattle, the trio had just gotten off work and were getting ready to leave when they started loudly commenting on how close the BMW crossover was parked to the front of their vehicle. We get that it’s annoying, but it seems like if they had backed up, they could have just pulled out and kept driving.
The driver of the Bimmer had his window down and heard the loud complaining. For whatever reason, he decided to take it personally, got out of his vehicle, and began to argue with the group. That's when the smaller of the two women threw the BMW driver's phone out of his hands.
That's when the BMW driver punches her in the face, knocking her out. The other two try to protect her and stop the man, and that's when he starts punching the other man. He then punches the second woman in the face, knocking her out as well.
Everyone can judge for themselves what was appropriate and justified here – we think both sides escalated things, but one side took it to the point of no return. It is also clear that the BMW driver had an advantage in size and strength.
Although he drove away, authorities were able to identify the BMW driver and he is now awaiting trial in the assault case. It's odd that the whole thing started with people complaining about a bad parking spot.
