Apple's Craig Federghi on the long way to the Mac-like multitasking of the iPad

That was one of the primary goals of the new Windows system.

“We decided this time: make everything we can make available,” said Federerghi, “Even if it has some nuances on older hardware, because we saw so much requirement [for Stage Manager]. “

That small change in approach, combined with other optimisations behind the scenes, makes the new multitasking model wider compatible than Stage Manager. There are still limits for those devices for the number of windows you can open, but for how many of those windows can be active and active. And real multi-monitor support would remain the goal of the faster, more expensive models.

“We have discovered a lot of optimisations,” Federighi said. “We have reintroduced our Windows system and we have reinstalled the way in which we manage background tasks, background processing, so that we could press more from other devices than we could do when we introduced Stage Manager.”

Internship manager still exists in iPados 26, but as an optional extra multitasking mode that you should choose to switch on instead of the new multitasking system with windows. You can also choose to completely disable both multitasking systems, whereby you retain the traditional Big-Ip-for-looking-for-Netflix interface of the iPad for the people who prefer it.

Although the new iPados 26 user interface is taking major steps in the direction of the interface of the Mac, the company still tries to treat them as different products with different priorities. To date, that has not meant touch screens on the Mac (despite years of rumors), and it will continue to mean that there are some Mac donations that the iPad cannot do.
