The iPhone 12 generation was probably also the last time that the regular iPhone and the Pro were so similar. Those telephones used the same basic design, the same basic tip and the same basic screen, so that mainly camera-related improvements and the MAX model were left behind as the most important differentiation points. This also applies to the split between the iPhone 17 and the 17 Pro, too.

The iPhone Air and Pro both leave in different ways of the last half decade of iPhone designs, but the iPhone 17 stays with the proven.

The design of the iPhone 17 has changed just enough since last year that you have to find a new iPhone 17-compatible cabinet and screen protector for your phone instead of buying something that fits with a previous generation model (it is imperceptibly larger than the iPhone 16). The screen size is increased from 6.1 inch to 6.3, the same as the iPhone Pro. But the design with aluminum framed-glass sandwich is much less a deviation from the recent precedent than the iPhone Air or the Pro.
The screen is the real star of the show in the iPhone 17, which brings 120 HZ promotion technology and the Pros-on display function to the regular iPhone for the first time. According to the specifications of Apple (and my eyes, albeit no scientific measurement), the 17 and the pro identical display panels seem to be used, with the same functionally infinite contrast, resolution (2622 x 1206) and brightness specs (1,000 Nits Typical, 1,600 Nits for HDR, 3,000 nits peak in outight).
It is easy to consider at the basic iPhone as “the cheap” because it is the least expensive of the four new phones that Apple releases every year, but $ 799 is still far in the Premium telephone range, and even central of the-road phones from Google and Samsung have High-Refresh-rate Geeldige Telephone now. By means of That Metriek is vague ridiculous that Apple does not send something like that in its $ 600 iPhone 16th, but in the Apple ecosystem we consider it a victory that the iPhone 17 does not cost more than the 16 last year.
Holding an iPhone 17 feels like holding any other regular iPhone that has been made over the past five years, with the exceptions of the new iPhone Air and some of the heavier iPhone professionals. It does not have the exceptionally good ratio between the screen distance or the slender profile of the air, and it does not have the added bulk or huge camera bateau of the iPhone 17 Pro. It feels like it looks: unobtrusive.
