The majority of the most important S1 cast is back for S2, with the exception of Shaw. Forest Whitaker repeats his again Rogue Rol as a clone wars veteran saw Gerrera, accompanied by colleague Rogue Alums Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk as Orson Krennic and K-2SO respectively. Benjamin Bratt is also cast in a still unwritten role.
The look behind the scenes opens with images of a desperate emergency broadcast that called for help because imperial ships lands, filled with storm troopers who are planning to destroy protesters or budding rebels against the empire that may be lurking. “Revolutionary movements happen spontaneously everywhere in the Melkweg,” explains series -maker Tony Gilroy. “How they come together is the stuff of our story.” While S1 concentrated a lot on political intrigues, Genevieve O'Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma, describes S2 as a “Juggernaut”, with a size and matching scope.
The images shown – some new, some shown in the teaser of the past week – confirms that assessment. There are a glimpse of Gerrera, Krennic and K-2SO, as well as the home world of Mothma, Chandrila. And do all those protesters sing on the planet Ghorman? That means that we will probably see the infamous Ghorman blood bath, a brutal event that led Mothma to resign from the Senate in protest against Emperor Palpatine. The massacre was so horrible that it ultimately served to mobilize and unite rebel troops on the Milky Way in the Star Wars canon.
The first three (of 12) episodes of Ener S2 premiere on April 22, 2025, on Disney+. The subsequent chapters of three episodes will fall weekly in the coming three weeks.
