The Anthropic of artificial intelligence said on Monday that it had completed a new fundraising deal that appreciated the company at $ 61.5 billion, an increase of around $ 16 billion just over a year ago.
Under the leadership of the Lightspeed Venture Partners risk capital company, the new round $ 3.5 billion extra pumps into the company. Since its foundation in 2021, Anthropic has collected more than $ 14.8 billion from Venture companies such as Menlo Ventures and Tech giants such as Amazon, Google and Salesforce.
The deal comes in the midst of an increase in financing activities for the most prominent AI startups in the industry. OpenAI will complete a $ 40 billion fundraising deal that would appreciate the company for $ 300 billion, almost double its appreciation from just five months ago. OpenAi started the AI Boom at the end of 2022 with the release of Chatgpt, which set up a financing dump that moved billions in a wide range of start-ups. Enthusiasm among investors for AI companies that were cooled in 2024, because various high-profile start-ups were essentially folded in tech giants such as Google and Amazon. But because companies such as OpenAi and Anthropic, with his chatbot named Claude, have continued to improve their AI technologies, investor's interests have returned.

Dario Amodei, Chief Executive of Anthropic, and his sister, Daniela Amodei, the president, founded the company as a start-up that AI would build with guardrails. Just like several others in the company's founder team, they were abandoned after disagreement with the leadership of the start-up about how his technologies were financed and released via Microsoft.
In a podcast interview in 2023, Mr. Amodei said that there was a chance of 10 to 25 percent that AI technology could destroy humanity. But in October he set a more optimistic tone and published an essay of 14,000 words about the potential benefits of AI technologies.
“I think most people underestimate the radical benefit of AI, just as I think most people underestimate the risks,” he wrote.
The following month Anthropic picked up $ 4 billion from Amazon, the largest investor, who put a total of $ 8 billion into the start-up. Anthropic builds and manages his AI systems using computer data centers owned by Amazon and Google.
