Jonah Hill petitions to change his name

Ever since Jonah Hill landed his breakthrough role in the 2007 movie ‘Superbad’, his name has been seen all over Hollywood as he has appeared over the years in major films like ‘This Is the End’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ . But fans might be surprised to learn that the actor has been using a stage name all along.

Hill is actually the middle name of the “Don’t Look Up” star. His full name is Jonah Hill Feldstein, and on November 29, he filed to have his name legally changed to the professional name.

According to court documents obtained by TODAY.com, the 38-year-old actor has filed a name change petition in Los Angeles Superior Court.

A hearing on his request to have Feldstein dropped is scheduled for January 23, 2023.

The “21 Jump Street” actor inherited his last name Feldstein from his father, Richard, a Hollywood business executive who has advised stars such as Kate Hudson, Paul Rudd and Adam Levine for nearly 50 years.

Although Hill decided not to use the famous name Feldstein, his sister and fellow actor Beanie Feldstein has used it throughout her career. However, the 29-year-old ‘Lady Bird’ star technically also uses a stage name.

Her full name is Elizabeth Greer “Beanie” Feldstein.

In 2018, she spoke to TODAY.com and shared why she loves using her nickname.

“It’s not my first name, so every day I feel like it’s a choice to go through with it,” she explained at the time. “Everyone used to say, ‘When you’re 10, you want to be Elizabeth or when you’re in college.’ And every time I was like, ‘No, I’m Beanie. That’s who I am.'”

She added, “So I like my name because I think it really suits me.”

Jordan, the late brother of Feldstein and Hill, who died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism in 2017 at age 40, also used their father’s last name. Jordan Feldstein was a respected figure in the industry and worked as a talent manager for Maroon 5.

The “Booksmart” actor and Hill go by different last names, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t close. The siblings have a strong bond and Hill even has a tattoo of his sister’s name on his forearm.

In April, the proud older brother gushed about Feldstein’s opening night performance of the Broadway revival of “Funny Girl.”

He praised Fanny Brice’s version of his sister in a sweet Instagram post. Alongside a throwback photo of Feldstein as a kid wearing an animal print coat and matching hat, he wrote, “I saw my sister @beaniefeldstein absolutely beaming off the stage tonight in @funnygirlbwy.”

Hill continued, “Obviously I’m proud as her older brother, but what I saw her do tonight surpassed her sibling or pride. Her talent made me cheer from the bottom of my heart. I’m floored. I love you @beaniefeldstein and am in awe of you and the talent you possess.”
