A rollover accident claims the life of a child in Coleman County

A 4-year-old boy died Friday after being thrown from a car in a crash in Coleman County, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

The crash happened Monday around 5:35 p.m. at U.S. Highway 84 and County Road 464 during rainy and wet road conditions, the DPS said. Michelle Warden Callisto, 27, of Burnet, was driving a 2024 Nissan Versa with her two sons, a four-year-old and a three-year-old, in the backseat.

The passenger car was traveling south on the highway at a speed that was unsafe in wet road conditions, DPS said. As a result, the driver veered westward off the roadway, overturned and came to rest upright.

The 4-year-old was thrown from the car during the crash and died, DPS said. Callisto suffered minor injuries.
