At least two people have been killed after a cargo plane veered off the runway at Hong Kong International Airport and landed in the sea, according to Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department (CAD).
The Boeing plane, operating under Emirates flight number EK9788, veered off course on arrival from Dubai at around 3.50am local time on Monday, the statement said.
An image circulating on social media shows the plane partially submerged in the water with what appears to be a broken tail.
Two members of the airport's ground crew were killed when a vehicle they were in crashed into the water as the plane veered from its path, police said.
Four crew members were on board the plane and were sent to local hospitals for medical treatment, CAD said
Fire engines gathered on the runway alongside rescue vehicles and ships, according to local news footage.
Authorities are investigating how the airport vehicle fell into the sea and whether this was directly caused by the plane veering off course.
The airport suspended operations on the northern runway on Monday. The two other runways remain open.
