Shanghai (Reuters) -Typhoon Matmo hit South -China on Sunday, said the state broadcaster, after flights and many events had been canceled in the province of Island of Hainan, which caused disturbance in a peak holiday season.
Matmo, who caused flooding in the Philippines last week, made the Philippines around 2.50 pm (0650 GMT).
It generated winds of 151 km / h (94 mph) when it approached the coastline of China, said the National Meteorological Center.

The Typhoon arrived in the middle of the eight -day vacation that started on Wednesday with the National Day, in which people are expected to make around 2.36 billion trips, according to estimates reported by the state of the state.
Flights and ferries in the Hainan holiday hub had been canceled from Saturday evening pending Matmo's strong wind and heavy rainfall.
