SOUTHPORT, NC (WNCN) – A coastal city from North Carolina gave a warning about an active shooter in the midst of reports on Saturday evening that three people were killed when a skipper shot a crowd in a restaurant on the water.
The city of Southport in Brunswick County gave a warning on social media just before 9.55 pm. A spokesperson for Southport Town said that three people were killed and eight others were injured in a shooting on Saturday evening.
“There are reports of an active shooter in the Southport Yacht Basin,” the city officers said in a short press release.
The Wilmington Star-News Reported a person in a boat who was fired at the American fish company in a crowd after he had pulled the boat to the restaurant, according to the Southport City Manager.
“Avoid the area and stay at home,” added city officials.
WWAY TV reported that it was questioned late on Saturday evening.
The Southport Yacht Basin borders a part of the city along the IntracoAstale Waterweg with various bars and restaurants, including American Fish Company.
At 10:43 am, the Sheriff of Brunswick County's office published a short statement on social media about this.

“The office of the Sheriff of Brunswick County helps the city of the Southport's city, together with several law enforcement agencies throughout the province,” said the Sheriff office. “Keep all those affected, as well as our first responds, in your thoughts and prayers.”
Southport is located along the Cape Fear River, opposite Fort Fisher and about 10 miles southwest of Wilmington.
