How to fight censorship, one Disney+ cancellation at the same time

    In 2024, the American Supreme Court unanimously ruled to defend a fairly clear idea about free speech: namely that the government cannot punish people or companies to say things about which government officials do not like or disagree. As a media organization, this principle is of fundamental importance for Ars Technica.

    Unfortunately, almost a year later, the government tries to censor voices routinely that does not like it. The recent bloated, circular comedian Jimmy Kimmel is just one of the most obvious examples of the new censorship regime. But the case also shows that, even where courts are not acting, the public can still successfully insist on change.
