The American Coast Guard says that in the past month it has seized more than 40,000 pounds of cocaine in the eastern Pacific as part of an elevated counter -printed activities.
More than a dozen interceptions since 8 August led to the seizure of the medicine and the fear of 36 suspected drug smugglers, the coast guard said in a press release on Thursday.
The actions took place via Operation Pacific Viper, which the Coast Guard described as “an increase in forces to the eastern Pacific to stop cartels and criminal organizations – drugs and human smuggling before it reaches the American coasts.” The eastern Pacific Ocean sees “considerable transport” of illegal narcotic drugs from South America, says the coast guard.
The federal agency, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, has released several images of recent activities.
