A possible medical emergency has led to a death on the track in Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina.
Robbie Brewer, a 53-year-old racing veteran in the Sportsman Division, collapsed frontally in the wall on a restart during a race on Saturday evening. The crash ensured that the car rolled through the front piece. Brewer was freed from his car and taken to a local hospital.
His family said on Sunday morning that Brewer had died.
Bowman Gray Stadium -Officaries released the following statement on Sunday:
“We were sad due to the death of Robbie Brewer after he was transported to a medical facility in the area after a medical on-track medical incident during the event last night at Bowman Gray Stadium. Robbie was a talented and passionate racer and a highly respected competitor among his colleagues.
Floracing, which streamed the event, reported that the sources had said that a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack, was the first cause that Brouwer lost control of his car.
Brewer was a seasoned racer on the track with 11 victories. He was a 2011 division champion on the track. His death was the first in more than two decades on the track, the last one was Bubba Beck, who crashed after a heart attack in a modified race in 2002.
