A Saudi Arab student was stabbed to death during a 10-week placement in Cambridge.
Mohammed Algasim, 20, was pronounced dead in Mill Park on Saturday at 12.01 and a 21-year-old man has since been accused of murder.
The Cambridgeshire police said that Algasim had studied in Cambridge at a placement of 10 weeks.
EF International Language Campuses Cambridge, a private school that offers English -language courses to overseas students, said that it was “deeply sad” to confirm that one of the students had died.
'Not -led attack'
The Cambridgeshire police said on Monday that it was assumed that Algasim “had been stabbed in a non -losing attack”.
A post-mortem exam will take place on Tuesday.
The forces said that Chas Corrigan, Van Holbrook Road, Cambridge, has been accused of murder and possession of a knife in a public place.
Corrigan is planned to appear later on Monday at the court of Peterborough Magistrates.
A 50-year-old man, also from Cambridge, was arrested on suspicion of helping a perpetrator. He stays in custody.
Flowers tribute has been left on the spot.
A message, on a piece of paper that is stuck behind the displays on a barrier, said, “May your soul be in peace” and had pulled heart shapes on it.
There was also “inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un”, which is an Arabian expression that means “to God we hear and we come back to Him”.
EF International Language Campuses Cambridge said The Telegraph: “We are deeply sad to confirm that one of our adult students was fatally injured in a public space.
“Emergency services responded immediately, but the student died tragically.
“We work closely with the local police, who investigate the incident and have confirmed that they have made arrests.
“The safety and well -being of our students is our top priority. We offer support to all students and employees affected by this tragic event and have organized counseling sessions.”
The private school added: “We will not comment further while the investigation is underway.”
