There are indications that vapen sold in Asia are increasingly peppered with synthetic medicines and pharmaceutical products such as Etomidate. According to a report from the Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) of the United Nations published in May, products sold in Singapore are because KPOD's Etomidate or Ketamine contain a class A -controlled medicine. The UNODC report also said that drug syndicates and organized crime groups are vapen with synthetic drugs and pharmaceutical products such as Etomidate.

According to a report from the Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) of the United Nations published in May, products sold in Singapore are because KPOD's Etomidate or Ketamine contain a class A -controlled medicine.
The UNODC report also says that drug syndicates and organized crime groups are vapen with synthetic drugs and pharmaceutical products such as Etomidate.
The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) told the Straits Times that it discovered 28 cases with KPODs in the first half of 2025, an increase of 10 cases registered in 2024.
“Symptoms of excessive use of etomidation mainly include intoxication-like effects, hand vibrations, unstable, panic, slowness and mental confusion, and its use is associated with accidents with public safety,” the report said.
Vapen has been prohibited in Singapore since 2018.
