Thanks to performance balancing, older GT3 cars such as the Huracan are still competitive. But with the road car from production, it was clear that a racing version of its replacement was requested.
“The Temerario GT3 is designed with the end user in mind,” says Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr. “Everything has been considered, from the efficiency of aerodynamics to the current curve to the way in which the team can operate the car. The car works in a slightly different part of the performance provision, which is used to balance the cars of different configurations compared to its predecessor. A wide operational window and that the teams can work on it better.”
A Huracan GT3 used to cost $ 450,000, but that was pre-building.

The hybrid system has disappeared – too complex for customer races, not to mention far too heavy. And again, with its performance balance, it is not as if the Temerario GT3 would be allowed much more than half of the 907 hp of the road car (676 kW). The 4.0 L Twin-Turbo V8 remains, although limited to only 550 hp (410 kW), and there is a new six-speed gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. The body was designed for quick replacement – misery is not Real Racing, but contact happens, and the faster you can repair it, the better.
These customer racing cars are even a decent small money spinner for Lamborghini. The company has sold more than 200 Huracan GT3s, and probably at least that many super Tropheo cars, which race in a one-make series and do not have the limitations of the GT3 category.
