Trump says that the decision about Fed Chair will come out soon

Washington (Reuters) -President Donald Trump said on Friday that a decision about the next chairman of the Federal Reserve will soon be published, and added that a good FED chair would lower the interest rates.

“It comes out very quickly,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

When asked specifically about the former Fed Governor Kevin Warssh, Trump said: “He is very well thought.” Warssh is considered a leader to be Trump's choice to be the next FED chairman.

Earlier on Friday, Trump said that the Federal Reserve should lower the interest rates by a full percentage point and he repeated his opinion that chairman Jerome Powell has been too slow to lower loan costs.

The president has repeatedly condemned Powell because he did not lower the rates as he wishes. The two men met face-to-face for the first time last week, in which Trump told Powell that he made a “mistake” by not lowering the rates.
