They bought their dream house. 3 days later it was infected with termites (exclusive)

    • Only three days after closing, Hailey Aguirre Termites discovered in her “dream” at home

    • A burst pipe followed the termite incident, flooding parts of the house and intensification of the stress and regret of the couple

    • Now wary of the home buying process, Hailey is insisting on future buyers to demand multiple inspections and find a strong supporter of real estate

A dream house changed to a nightmare for Hailey Aguirre and her husband, only three days after they had closed their new house.

The couple, who had recently moved to Arizona from Buffalo, NY, thought they had found the perfect place – until a hidden infection revealed itself. Hailey shared her frustrations in a now viral tap video.

“We were so excited and everything went well. The buying process was very smooth,” Hailey tells people, reminding the expectations and hope that came with their move and the search for a new house.

The house checked every box: ideal location, beautiful luminaires and a renovation that made it feel like a new start. After a one-month process with multiple walkthroughs and three different inspections, including a termite inspection, she says the couple confidently while they prepared to settle.

But just before closing, a phone call from their broker changed everything. “The day before closing, frankly, on our ride to closing the house, I received a phone call from our broker and said they just discovered that they thought Termites were moving out the gathering furniture. She demanded that it was treated as that day. And it was,” explains Hailey.

According to Hailey, the sellers assured them that the problem had been treated, and with all the inspections that come back, the couple moved ahead, trusting the professionals and the process.

The relief was short -lived. “By Thursday evening I discovered them again and then realized that there were other groups above where they were,” says Hailey.

Hailey describes a confusing and stressful test with the pest control company. “The termite company that came and it treated was chosen by the seller,” she says. “So to drop it by them, to find out, we didn't really have control over the termite company to come and eliminate them.”

According to her, the company missed two agreements before he finally tackled the problem, so that the stress of the couple is compiled.

As if termites were not enough, another disaster finally arrived a few hours after the pest control team finally arrived.

“Literally an hour after the Termiet showed up … I just pulled out the waste, and I noticed that water ran out of the floor like the carport area, and then the floor became squishy and spewed water out of the floor,” Hailey recalls.

A burst pipe forced them to exclude the water and, according to Hailey, to contact the sellers again.

The series of problems has tested the optimism of the couple. “To be honest, I had a lot of trouble feeling that we have made the right decision, or have the feeling that this is the right house for us, so I try to be positive about it and make it my own,” she shares.

“But it was a bit difficult to have the feeling that I can actually live in the house, because it seems to be everything that I touch as breaking,” adds Hailey.

Her husband, whose demanding job often keeps him away, is still 'in unbelief that the house that we thought was great and perfect and has passed on all the inspections is all these problems, suddenly,' she says.

The experience has left a stamp on Hailey's confidence in the buying process for the home. “I was jokes like, I never want to buy a house again,” she says.

She has previously had a new building, she now realizes the importance of thorough inspections and being proactive. In the future: “Maybe we are going with several different inspectors and we may ask for different things that are being done,” she shares.

For others navigating the buying process of the house, Hailey offers serious disputes: “Have a really good broker, because our agent has been a advocate for us … If we didn't have someone we trusted and knew what they did, I think we should pay for this.”
