A hit-and-run collision that delayed evening traffic on Northbound I-5 on Friday sent a 29-year-old man to the hospital, but the driver of the other vehicle involved is still unknown, according to a Washington State Patrol Press-Memo that was sent on Friday evening.
The man from Tenino, Washington, was transported to the Tacoma General Hospital with injuries after a non-created vehicle, which WSP spokesman John Datilo told that the News Tribune yesterday was a semi-truck, bumped into Lane Two of the Highway, according to the Highway.
The incident happened on Milepost 124 in the Lakewood area at 3 p.m., the memo said. The News Tribune reported that it closed three left tracks on Northbound I-5 near Berkeley Avenue Southwest.
The State Department of Transportation placed on X in the following hours on the traffic back -up that grew from six to 10 miles, from Thorne Lane in Lakewood to the Meridian Road Northast Vimd in Lacey.
Both vehicles traveled north. The Gray Audi traveled in Lane Three of Vier when he hit a barrier on the left and was diverted to Lane Two. That is where the truck hit the Audi, after the truck moved from Lane One to Lane Two, the press memo said.
The truck left the stage and the gray Audi “came to rest perpendicular to the left shoulder, which partially blocked the HOV Lane,” said the memo. The incident blocked the roadway for an hour and 30 minutes.
