Trump says he was a 'bit sarcastic' when he promised to end the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours

West Palm Beach, Fla. (AP)-President Donald Trump said on Friday that he “was a little sarcastic” when he repeatedly claimed as a candidate that he would have resolved the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours and even before he even took over.

Trump was asked about the vow that he repeatedly made on the campaign track during an interview for the television program “Full measures”, because his administration is still trying to circumvent 54 days in his second term.

“Well, I was a bit sarcastic when I said that,” Trump said in a clip that was released prior to the episode that was broadcast on Sunday. “What I really mean is that I want to let it arrange and I think I will be successful.”

It was a rare recognition of Trump, who has a long report of exaggerated claims.

Trump said in a CNN -Stadhuis in May 2023: 'They die, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I will do that – I did that within 24 hours. '

“That is a war that wants to be arranged. I will have it arranged before I even become president, “Trump said during his debate in September with the then vice-president Kamala Harris. “If I win, when I am president, and what I will do, I will be that I will speak to one, I will speak to the other. I will bring them together. “

The Republican often repeated the claim on the campaign track.

His special envoy, Steve Witkoff, was this week in Moscow for conversations about a chat-stuff-fire stuff that has accepted Ukraine.

In the interview, Trump was also asked what the plan would be if Putin did not agree with a cease -the war that he started three years ago.

“Bad news for this world because so many people die,” said Trump.

But I think I think he will agree. I really do it. I think I know him reasonably well and I think he will agree. “
