Chinese companies are hurrying to deploy deep everywhere

A mobile shooting game developed by Tencent is Deepseek to provide an in-game assistant with electricity that can give players to tell readers about whether they will have a great game session that day or not. CGN Power, a state-owned company Nuclear Power Company, Vaag stated that the Deepseek has included in its AI system for employees “to understand complex questions and to deal with them efficiently.”

Local governments in China also embrace Deepseek. Shenzhen officials, for example, have put deep applications on the cloud “for all government agencies in the city.” Changsha, the capital of the province of Hunan, uses Deepseek to analyze real-time data from urban management as part of a Smart City program. Thousands of government officials and employees throughout the country also go to lectures by professors or experts from state -owned companies who explain what Deepseek is and how its technology can be used.

One reason why Deepseek has been so successful is that the Open Source model arrived at a time when Chinese companies were already looking for ways to transform their products with AI. The tools are also affordable and easy to use. “Chinese companies that experimented with the use of AI models for business activities were reached for the release of such a capable open source/weight model, which considerably reduces the costs for implementation,” wrote Paul Triolo, the China Practice and Technology Policy Group at Consultancy.

Since the competition between manufacturers of electric vehicles in China has been intensified in recent years, car manufacturers were forced to constantly develop new smart functions that are able to harvest customers, a task that is well suited for the Deepseek models. Deepseek offers “a better and faster interactive experience”, while “require lower calculation costs, which means lower hardware costs,” says Lei Xing, a car analyst focused on the Chinese market and the former editor of China Auto Review. The technology enables EV companies to do things such as quickly building advanced smart assistants without paying for the prior investments in research and development that is usually required.

But also: “It's just cool from a marketing perspective to have one of the most disturbing AI tools and leading LLMs currently available in the world,” says Xing.

Many Chinese companies “just drive on the wave of attention,” says LiQian Ren, a quantitative investment specialist at Wisdomtree, an investment firm. The Chinese stock market is still heavily powered by a public sentiment instead of actual business performance, she says, and investors often shift wildly from very positive to very negative. Taking Deepseek's models is an easy way for companies to generate Media -Buzz and to drum investor's interests.

But there is also another factor that has helped to make Deepseek very trendy in China: the fact that the West panicked about it. “The strong reception abroad has further increased its popularity in China and served as the best marketing campaign of the company,” says Angela Huyue Zhang, a professor of law studying at the Chinese technology policy at the University of South California.
