Trump administration plans to limit the Obamacare registration period

    New York (Reuters) -the Trump -Administration wants the registration period for Obamacare Health Insurance Plans on December 15, a month earlier than the current Deadline, the agency that supervises, said the program that supervises a press release.

    The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said that the move was aimed at tackling “incorrect registrations”, of which it had increased the expenditure for taxpayers to the program. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comments and details about the alleged discrepancies.

    It will also tighten the suitability for the special registration period outside the registration data from 1 November to 15 December and require additional income verification, without providing details.

    The health plans, which are subsidized on the basis of income, were introduced under the Affordable Care Act 2010, the characteristic legislation of former US President Barack Obama. Since the beginning, 49.4 million Americans have registered for the health plans, including a record of 20.8 million people who registered in 2024.

    The Medicare Agency said it would also ensure that consumers are not registered in the plans without their permission.

    Gender-confirming care would be considered non-essential for insurers who register members via the Obamacare marketplace, according to the release of CMS.

    Permant -made persons who receive health insurance through Daca or deferred action for arrivals in children would also be limited to register.
