Figma in conversations with bankers to explore an IPO this year

Figma, a cloud -based design platform, has met investment banks in recent weeks to discuss the first public offer that could come as soon as possible, said two people with knowledge of the case.

In 2023, European and American supervisors stimulated an attempt by the software giant Adobe to buy Figma for $ 20 billion. Figma's Chief Executive, Dylan Field, said that the supervision of the regulations meant that another sale was probably off the table.

Many bankers had expected that antitrust and enforcement officers under President Trump would follow a more lax approach to mergers and acquisitions than those under the Biden administration. But in January the Ministry of Justice blocked a deal between Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper Networks, which suggests that constant control.

Many technology companies seem to be possible to become possible in a possible public instead. CoreWeave, a supplier of cloud computing services for artificial intelligence, has requested an offer and will be a test of Wall Street's hunger for AI-related companies. Discord, a social chat app, and Stubhub, a ticketing software company, are in early discussions about a potentially public offer this year.

A spokesperson for Figma refused to comment. Mr. Field said at a conference last year that the company was on its way to becoming public.

Figma was founded in 2012 in San Francisco and offers free, cloud -based tools and services for designers and developers. It accepted Adobe's $ 20 billion acquisition offer in 2022, with Adobe later paid Figma a break -up reimbursement of $ 1 billion when the deal was on the ground.

In the aftermath, Figma collected extra financing from investors, including coatue and general catalyst with a rating of $ 12.5 billion.

In recent years, Figma has aimed at expanding his product range and working on AI tools. The products include an online whiteboard tool, Figjam, for users to brainstorm and work together on various projects, and Figma slides, a PowerPoint-like product for making presentations. In 2023, the company introduced its first hardware product, a keyboard for designers to program shortcuts to their most used design tools.

The products have helped to feed Figma's things worldwide. More than 85 percent of the weekly active users are outside the United States, according to Figma, and more than half of the income comes from international customers.

Figma said that it wants to stay beyond designers. About two -thirds of his customers identify as something other than designers, and one third of the user base are software developers.

Figma has opened offices in New York, London, Tokyo, Paris and Berlin in recent years. It has more than 1,400 employees.
