The investigation into the death of Gene Hackman And Betsy Arakawa has delivered new findings.
After the couple and one of their three dogs were found dead in their New Mexico house on February 26, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza offered new details about critical evidence in the case.
Arakawa, 65, was found on the bathroom floor with space heating and an open bottle of recipe medication in the neighborhood with pills “spread on the counter”, according to a explanation for the search order obtained by NBC News 27 February.
Researchers also collected records from Myquest – an online portal for health laboratories – as well as a monthly planner of 2025 and two green mobile phones using the order.
Earlier in the day, Mendoza emphasized the meaning of the pills in the midst of the ongoing research and characterized them as 'something of care'.

“That is clearly very important evidence on the spot,” he said Savannah Guthrie During an interview on Today. “That information was collected, which information was passed on to the medical researcher's office to help them make a decision. So we look at that specific and other medicines that were possible in the home. “

The sheriff also noted that a fully toxicological report “could last up to three months or even possibly longer” to complete, but added that his team “hopes that it will come earlier than later.”
In the meantime, the authorities have excluded the possibility that the couple and their dogs died of carbon monoxide poisoning after both Hackman and Arakawa had tested negatively on the material, Mendoza said in a press conference of 28 February. However, he noted that the police could visit the cause if “there is something else that is reflected in the toxicological report.”
