FDA reminds more than 2 million baked products about concern about Listeria -Besfeting

    The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for 60 baked products, including a variety of donuts, due to concern about potential Listeria bes infection.

    The recall, which influences around 2 million fried products, was issued for products made by FGF brands, a cake wholesaler that distributes fried products in the US and Canada, according to the FDA report. The reason for the recall is now mentioned as “potential for contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.”

    Called products include a variety of stuffed and flavored donuts, cinnamon sticks, French crullers and beignets, some of which are also sold at Dunkin ', and were produced according to the report before December 13, 2024.

    Class II classification

    Although the recall was initially published on January 7, this Wednesday was upgraded to class II. Class II is defined as “a situation in which use or exposure to a violent product can cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the chance of serious adverse health consequences is remotely,” said the FDA website.

    The FDA did not specify that the following steps for consumers and FGF brands did not respond immediately to the request from USA Today for a comment.     Listeria -poisoning symptoms

    Listeriosis, or Listeria poisoning, is a bacterial infection transferred by food that is usually caused by the Bacteria Listeria Monocytogenes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is considered a serious condition and can be dangerous or life -threatening, especially for older adults, people with a weak immune system and pregnant women.

    Listeria is the third most important cause of death due to food -handed diseases in the US, according to the CDC. The agency estimates that the disease affects 1,600 Americans every year, with around 260 people who die from those infections.

    Symptoms are under the CDC:

    • Other gastrointestinal symptoms

    • Miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery and/or life -threatening infection of newborn babies

    People in categories with a higher risk that flag -like symptoms experience within two months of eating contaminated food must seek medical care.
