New York (Reuters) -Facebook owner Meta -Platforms is planning to carry out the expected company -wide redundancies next week, while it is steeped in hiring the accelerated engineers of Machine Learning, the employees in internal memos who have Reuters on Friday seen.
Notifications go to employees who lose their job from 5 hours of local time Monday in most countries, also in the US, according to one of the messages, written by Meta's head people Janelle Gale.
Employees in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands will be exempt from the cutbacks “because of local regulations”, while in more than a dozen other countries in Europe, Asia and Africa will receive their reports between 11 February and 18 February, said.
A meta spokesperson refused to comment on the messages.
The company confirmed last month that it was planning to trim about 5% of its “lowest performance” and to fill at least some of the positions. The Friday Memo, in which Gale referred to the cuts as “performance -orientation”, was first reported by the information.
In contrast to earlier business -wide redundancies, Meta was planning to keep his offices open on Monday and would not issue any updates that provide further details about the decisions, Gale said in her message.
A separate memo, placed by VP van Engineering for income with income Peng Fan, also asked employees on Friday to help with an accelerated recruitment process for engineers of machine learning and other “business critical” engineering.
That process would take place between 11 February and 13 March, Fan said in that message.
“Thank you for your continuous support in helping our accelerated recruitment goals, and better in accordance with the priorities of our company for 2025.”
