Video shows the murder of New Mexico suspect who is attacked by the victim's family in court

The video of the courtroom shows the moments that a murder suspect in New Mexico was attacked during a hearing by the uncle and stepfather of his alleged victim on Friday.

Alexander Ortiz, 21, was arrested last February by the Albuquerque police in connection with the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend, Alianna Farfan, according to a press release.

Ortiz was accused of murder of the first degree, a crime that he was not guilty of last March, according to court reports.

Ortiz was on Friday morning in a courtroom in the Bernalillo County courthouse in Albuquerque for a plea when he was attacked.

In the video you could see a man jumping across the border of the courtroom that separates members of the public from suspects and beelining for Ortiz, who is trying to flee. Another man follows seconds later.

A Melee then breaks out with different people who are struggling and fighting while they roll on the floor, including Lucero, Ysasi, Ortiz, a correction officer, the father of Ortiz and a sixth non -ignored man.

Lucero and Ysasi could be seen who wore a non-mischievous man in your jeans and a dark shirt with long sleeves, while the correction officer tries to protect Ortiz.

The fight finally ends when the Corrections Officer brings out his taser.

Court documents submitted by the state of New Mexico in the metropolitan court last week identify the men like Carlos Lucero and Pete Ysasi. Delegates responded to the courtroom around 9.30 am after a shipping report of an active fight.

Lucero and Ysasi reportedly jumped over the courtroom of the courtroom, ran to Ortiz and began to hit him, the court documents. The men would also have wounded the correction employee who protects Ortiz.

During his arrest, Lucero referred to the victim, Farfan, as his niece.

“He killed my niece as a coward,” Lucero reportedly said to the delegate who held him and added: “It was worth every moment.”

Ysasi was the stepfather of Farfan.

There were “visible cracks” on Ortiz, Lucero and Ysasi after the incident, according to judicial documents. Lucero and Ysasi were taken into custody and accused of battery on a peace officer and abuse in a prison.

Lucero was released on Saturday from the Metropolitan Detention Center and Ysasi was released the next day, according to online records.

It is not clear at the moment if they have lawyers they represent.

Farfan was found dead by the police in her apartment on January 11, 2024, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.

“Murder detectives learned from friends and family that Farfan and Ortiz had an offensive relationship and Ortiz was angry with Farfan on the day of the shooting,” the police said in a press release published last year. “Farfan lived in the apartment and stood to stay there for several friends because she feared being alone, according to a family member.”

Farfan's friends told detectives that they heard a single shot while Ortiz and Farfan were in her bedroom that evening. After they had opened the door open, they discovered Farfan with a shot wound on the face and said that Ortiz had escaped through the bedroom window.

Ortiz was arrested on February 21, 2024 after a short impasse with the police. Since then he has been in custody in the Metropolitan Detention Center, according to online records.

NBC News did not immediately hear from a lawyer for Ortiz.

His next hearing is set for Friday morning.
