Ice Storm focuses on Midwest. What Hoosiers can expect after warm start of the week

Punxsutawney Phil and Indianas Weather Groundhog, Hope, recently predicted that there will be another six weeks of winter, and those predictions will be immediately for the Hoosier State, because it is expected to be hit with an ice storm this week.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service of Indianapolis noted that parts of North and Central -Indiana are hit on Wednesday by a wave of cold air, which leads to regions in Indiana with ice and ice cold rain from sunset to midnight on Wednesday.

It is predicted that much of the expected freezame rain and ice parts of North Indiana will touch, in particular regions above Munice and Lafayette, according to NWS Indianapolis meteorologist Andrew White.

If the temperatures stay with their predicted high and above freezing, meteorologists expect the area in Indianapolis to be slightly influenced by the ice -cold rain, which would limit the amount of ice on the floor.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm could bring a winter storm and freezing rain to Indiana February 5, 2025.

“Once we are past the evening bushes, we definitely have a potential to mix a little ice -cold rain with the rain,” said White.

Meteorologists warned that as the temperature has become warmer, parts of the roads in the whole of Indiana may not be treated, which can cause roads to become slippery because they are struck by the incoming freezing rain.
