The anti-diving effect of that front-wheel suspension is quite noticeable among brakes, and in normal or sports mode the damper settings are well calibrated for bumpy rear roads. It is a smooth ride, if not entirely a magical carpet. On the highway the coach cruises well, although the engine can sound a bit with a constant speed. But the highway is not what the GT3 is optimized for.
On windy mountain roads, again in normal or sport, the car comes to life. Second and third gears are perfect for these circumstances, so that you can keep the car in its power band. And boy, it sounds good because it cries between 7,000 and 9,000 rpm. Porsche's Natural Flat-Sixes naturally have a hard lead for Hen-de 911 RSR was always the loudest racing car in the pack and the GT3 is no exception. Even with the sports outlet in fruity mode, there are little of the pops, pony and crackling that you might hear in other sports cars, but the drama comes from the 9000 rpm Redline.
Porsche asked us to keep traction control and ESC switched on during our drive-er his one-touch buttons to switch them off and given the muddy and dusty state of the roads, this was a wise idea. (The region was recently hit by serious floods, and there was plenty of proof of that on the route.) Even with TC on, the rear wheels would break grip if you were innocent with the throttle, and probably that would be the same in the wet. But it is very easy to catch, even if you are alone of moderate driving, such as your modest correspondent.
After lunch it was time to try the winged car, this time on the borders of the Ricardo Torno circuit just outside the city. On the circuit, the handling was very neutral around most angles, with some understeer through the very slow turn 2. While a low curb weight and more than 500 hp provided a very fast accelerating car, the inhibiting performance was probably even more impressive, so you can You can stand on the pedal and can add speed without blurring and little disruption of body control. Again, I am not a floating god, but the GT3 was very flattering on the right track, and unlike many older 911s, it will not try to exchange ends on you if you are on triling or the like.
