GJPD identifies officer in January 19

    Grand Junction, Colo. (Krex) – The Grand Junction police have identified the officer who is involved in a shooting on January 19.

    Officer Toby Baldwin fired his service weapon during the incident. The original press release reported that the suspect-46-year-old Aaron Blount-Naar is said to have fired his weapon several times before the officer returned.

    Baldwin, a veteran in the US Army, has been with GJPD for about three years after nine years of earlier law enforcement experience. He serves as a patrol officer, field training officer and firearm instructor.

    “As the standard protocol is with every officer-involved shooting, the officer currently has paid administrative leave, awaiting the outcome of an internal investigation that takes place separately from the criminal investigation carried out by the 21st Criticial Criticial District Critical Incident Response Team . This incident remains investigated by CIRT, “the police said in the press release.
