The off-duty police officer who was stabbed by a suspect in a traffic accident on Saturday has been released from the hospital, Atlanta police said. Channel 2 Action News.
Saturday, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office reports around 6 p.m. Saturday, a Dodge Charger struck a Chevy Silverado on eastbound Interstate 20 near Panola Road in DeKalb County, then left the scene.
Officers say an off-duty metro Atlanta police officer followed the Dodge into Rockdale County near Salem Road to obtain the license plate information.

It was then that the driver of the Dodge Charger, identified as Justin Perry Hurst, pulled into a parking lot with the APD officer, where they argued:
The argument escalated to Hurst stabbing the officer multiple times during the road rage incident.
The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was alert, conscious and breathing.
APD released the following statement on Sunday:
“While the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is leading this investigation, the Atlanta Police Department stands in solidarity with them to ensure the suspect is apprehended. We are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to contact CrimeStoppers or the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.”

APD also said they are “pleased to announce that the off-duty officer has been released from Grady Memorial Hospital. We wish him a speedy and full recovery.”
