BEIJING (Reuters) – China has again warned the European Union that if the bloc holds separate negotiations with electric vehicle makers during talks with China, it would “shatter mutual trust” and disrupt the overall negotiations, China's ministry said Trade Monday.
The ministry issued a similar warning earlier this month, but this repeat comes days after China and the EU agreed to further technical negotiations on possible alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EV).
Both sides had made clear that price fixing would remain the solution to the dispute, and the ministry said the next phase of consultations had begun.
Beijing said last Friday it “welcomed the EU team to come to China as soon as possible.”
