Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) has called for the words of Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) to be removed after he criticized “certain” white people on the House floor Wednesday.
“Madam Speaker, I get it, competition is tough. It’s scary. Climate change is real,” said Casten, who criticized anti-ESG laws and backed GOP lawmakers for a bill described as the “Protecting Americans’ Investments from Woke Policies” Act.
“And as nightmarish as certain white people of low character may find the realization of Martin Luther King’s dream, it is the only way we can move forward as a society. In the name of the free market —”
Foxx then joined the conversation and requested that Casten's words be removed.
“On what basis?” Casten replied.
Minutes later, she withdrew her demand, when the Illinois Democrat noted that he hoped his “clear textual comments” made it clear he was not directing his remarks at anyone in the room.

Social media users later lashed out at Foxx, who has made such demands before and who berated ABC's Rachel Scott during a press conference last year.
Democratic Representative: Says something about the racist people out there.
Republican Rep.: Appears to object that this is a personal slur. https://t.co/x9VCKqUAkY
