Teen shot by officer after police chase, shooting at Brookhaven home being burglarized

    A 19-year-old is in the hospital after being shot by a Brookhaven police officer late Thursday night.

    According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a homeowner saw four armed gunmen in her Caldwell Road home on a surveillance camera. She called a friend who came to the house and confronted the suspects.

    The suspects and the homeowner's friend got into a gunfight inside the house.

    Brookhaven police saw the suspects' car drive away from the house and tried to pull them over, but they sped away. The suspects crashed the car at the intersection of Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. and Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

    Moments later, police say an armed suspect, identified as 19-year-old Albert Eugene Burns, got out of the car with a gun and an officer shot him. Burns dropped his gun and ran away. As he ran, he dropped a second gun. The officer shot Burns a second time as he ran away.

    He was taken to hospital and is currently in critical condition.

    Two of the suspects, 22-year-old Davion Harper and 18-year-old Tyson Kamari Kirksey, were arrested and are being held in the DeKalb County Jail.

    Police say there is a fourth suspect who escaped before being captured by police. They are trying to identify him, but say they do not believe he is still in the area.

    None of the officers were injured in the incident.
