The far right is out to destroy one of them.
Over the past week, far-right pundits began lining up to take photos of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) while the congresswoman was reportedly vacationing in Costa Rica.
As for why fellow extremists are angry? That’s threefold — and it involves Greene’s vocal support for Rep. Kevin McCarthy becoming the next Speaker of the House, her public feud with former boyfriend Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and finalizing her divorce.
“MTG wants to protect McCarthy from removal if elected chairman,” organizer Ali Alexander wrote on Telegram on Jan. 6, furious with Greene. “Something strange is going on between McCarthy and MTG. I’ve only seen anything like it once before. Maybe it’s time for me to intervene.”
The “Stop the Steal” leader — once an ally of Greene’s — then returned to Telegram to tear up the Georgia Republican, whom he called a “trailer park hoodrat,” for “attacking” Boebert earlier this week after the congressman of Colorado had fired into a public feud with Greene.
“I’ve been aligned with Marjorie and accused of believing many of the things she believes in,” Boebert said Monday at a Turning Point USA conference, which kicked off the feud. “I don’t believe in this, just as I don’t believe in Russian space lasers, Jewish space lasers and all this.”
Green responded on Twitter by accusing Boebert of participating in “high school drama” and generating “media sound bites.”
Since then, far-right radio host Stew Peters has also been involved in the Greene bashing.
“I see you’ve stopped talking about dildos and butt plugs,” Peters said angrily on Twitter after Greene fired back at Boebert. In a telephone interview with The Daily Beast, Peters said Greene was “actually a threat to national security” and stated that one day she would “burn in hell”.
“Marjorie is NOT America First, but unfortunately an impostor and a liar who raised millions claiming she would impeach Biden, and now supports a man for Speaker who refuses to impeach Biden,” he said Friday night. In addition, Peters – like many other far-right pundits – was involved in an extremely sexist attack, referring to the claim that Greene had an affair with a “tantric sex guru” prior to her recent divorce.
Peters suggested that the “healthy Christian mother” image she ran under was a farce, apparently in light of her divorce, calling her a “two-bit whore.”
Similarly, former Right Side Broadcasting Network host and failed Republican congressional candidate Mike Crispi suggested that Greene was “blackmailed” by McCarthy, which he called the “only logical explanation” for her fervent support.
“All she’s doing is bullying and trying to discredit,” he continued of the Georgia Republican.
Nicholas Fuentes, the white nationalist leader who later became Kanye West, also turned against Greene earlier this month after she denounced him in late November, despite speaking at Fuente’s annual AFPAC conference months earlier in March.
Fuentes — whom Greene now calls “Large Marge” — has since encouraged his white nationalist “groyper” followers to harass Greene at her campaign events.
Greene’s congressional office did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment Friday night.
