50 Cent responds to Mayor Eric Adams' lawsuit in the best way he knows how: trolling

50 Cent is trolling Eric Adams after the current New York City mayor was indicted on federal charges of bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. The federal investigation was launched in 2021, the same year Adams was elected mayor.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, the Queens-born emcee posted a photo of the beleaguered mayor and captioned it, “Oh s**t, [shocked emoji] what the f**k did you do Eric? I have never seen an active mayor of NY indicted.”

In a separate post after Adams addressed the charges at a press conference, Fif responded: “This is getting crazy in here! You want a docuseries about Eric Adams? I want to know what the f**k is going on here.”

The New York Times reported that Adams' indictment related to allegations that he and his campaign colluded with the Turkish government to solicit illegal foreign donations. Adams made history as the first sitting mayor of New York City to face criminal charges.

He denies any wrongdoing. In a statement issued Wednesday (Sept. 25), Adams said: “I will fight these injustices with all my strength and spirit. I am innocent.”

On the possibility of resignation, the Brownsville resident and former NYPD captain continued: “If I am charged, many will say I should resign because I cannot run the city while I am making the case. I can also understand that ordinary New Yorkers are concerned that I cannot do my job while I am charged, but I have been confronted with these lies for months. […] Yet the city has continued to improve. Make no mistake, you elected me to lead this city and I will lead it.”

This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has taken aim at Adams. In a now-deleted Instagram post from earlier this year, the entertainment mogul criticized the mayor’s proposal to provide prepaid debit cards to immigrants.

“WTF Mayor Adams is calling my phone, I don't understand how this works — someone explain it,” the rapper said of the plan. He later admitted that he had reached out to Adams. “I spoke to @nycmayor Eric Adams, he explained why this pilot program was set up. He seemed on point and in control.”

Adams also admitted that he wanted 50 Cent's approval on the matter, saying, “I told 50 Cent to contact me. I'd like to explain it to him so he can write another tweet saying, 'You know what? Eric is just a smart executive and now we understand why he was elected mayor by the people of this city.'”
